create a stop motion animation film and independently discussing movement in

Strategies and Activities: 1. View a short Claymation film with
successfully sculpted characters and backdrop. 2. View/discuss how the film and backdrop show
the art principle of movement. 3. Demonstrate how to begin creating your
backdrop making sure to consider adding movement into it. 4. Pass out materials and have students rejoin
their groups. 5. Assist students while they work. 6. Clean
up with 7 minutes left. |
Materials and Supplies: 1. SMARTboard 2. Claymation film example from Vimeo acct. 3. students’ story maps and clay characters 4. Sculpey clay (multi colored) 5. clay sculpting tools 6. Cardboard boxes (from laptops) 7. Multicolored construction paper 8. Scissors, glue, pencils, markers 9. 3D materials: raffia, yarn, cotton balls,
fabric, felt |
Accommodations and modifications for
different levels of learners: Students
with fine motor skill difficulties will be able to use larger or smaller
tools for drawing. When available,
these students will also be provided with pencil adaptors. Visual,
verbal, and hands on teaching techniques will be utilized to accommodate all
types of learners. |
Technology Integration The
smartboard will be used to view/discuss a Claymation film’s characters and
backdrop that show movement. |
Assessment: This
project will be assessed in 3 categories:
I can discuss movement, I can collaborate with
others, and I can compose a stop motion animation film. |
